Colorado Lawyers Helping Lawyers is a lawyer run program that provides a confidential service designed to assist judges, attorneys and law students with issues common to the stresses of the legal field, including substance abuse and depression
Colorado Lawyers Helping Lawyers (CLHL) is a fellowship of volunteers who offer free, confidential assistance to Colorado lawyers and law students who may be struggling with alcohol, substance abuse or mental health issues. CLHL is a confidential resource for lawyers and law students who reach out to CLHL for assistance. CLHL is available to everyone who needs help, or who may have concerns about themselves, other lawyers or law students. CLHL offers education and assistance in finding the resources to better manage stress as well as assistance to the individual who has already developed unhealthy stress management behavior.
CLHL is dedicated to meeting the challenges of an expanding and diverse legal
community, and contributing value to the practice of law and the public through lawyer assistance and education. Recovery and relapse prevention, which directly impact the efficient administration of justice and the protection of the public, remain CLHL’s ultimate goals.
The core competencies of CLHL continue to be education, peer support programs and peer support meetings, and referrals of attorneys to qualified professionals.
